Main Sponsor BetonKanoRace: Continu Engineering

With appropriate satisfaction we are pleased to announce the new name of the event. Continu Engineering has decided to become main sponsor for the ConcreteCanoeRace 2007, which is why from here on forth we will call the event the Continu Engineering ConcreteConoeRace 2007. We are delighted that Continu Engineering supports us in making this event a great success. We are of course also thankful to our other sponsors and their continued support in organizing the Continu Engineering ConcreteCanoeRace.

American participation

This year the winning team at the American Concrete Canoe Challenge will participate in the Dutch ConcreteCanoeRace. The American Association of Civil Engineers will provide funds, for the winning team of the American competition, to travel to the Netherlands.

Sleeping locations

When spending the night you are initially assigned to the therefore designated camping location on the Campus. Participants of the ConcreteCanoeRace will be allowed to set up camp and sleep in their own tents. In addition, there will be 16 available beds in huts also located on the university campus. These beds will be priced 10 Euro per person per night. The third option is a hotel which is priced at 50 Euro per person per night (2-person room). For more information and reservations you may contact the ConcreteCanoeCommission (betonkanorace@concept.utwente.nl).

Commentator: Johan Vlemmix

The race will this year be paired with professional commenting provided by none other than Johan Vlemmix. Johan Vlemmix is famed for his participation in various Dutch TV shows such as ‘Te land, te zee en in de lucht’ as well as several variants namely: ‘Tobbedansen’, ‘Met glans van de schans’ and ‘Vlieg er ‘s uit en fiets em erin’. His ingeniously constructed vehicles have awarded him with much well-deserved attention. He made his debut in a bathtub with a paddlewheel. He participated in ‘Te land, te zee en in de lucht’ a hundred times and landed himself a place in the Guinness World Book of Records doing so. Johan Vlemmix is still active as jury-member and as a participant at this TV Show and is therefore more than appropriate for professional commenting and giving the starting signal at this years ConcreteCanoeRace.
